Anomalous Object/Entity/Location Number: AOEL-392
Difficulty of Containment: High
Danger Level: Low
Containment Protocol: Documentation of AOEL-392 is to convey as little information as possible. Knowledge beyond what is presented in this document is to be discovered organically by the researcher. Under no circumstances, save for this document which will be partially cloaked with an antimemetic coating, is an individual with knowledge of AOEL-392 to report it to another individual.
Anomaly Description: AOEL-392 is a psychic and incorporeal anomalous object or entity that can be communicated with when the eyes of an individual are closed for a prolonged period of time. AOEL-392 goes by "Deduceus" and claims it is "the God of Perceptive Blindness, Compensatory Piercer of Obfuscation". Interaction with Deduceus improves cognition and concentration, typically leading to moments of profound clarity and resolution for individuals with respect to their personal problems.
AOEL-392, according to his words, "hides behind the eyelids of everyone", and so is "ever-present". Despite this, he is rarely "activated", as he is not accessible during sleep. In discussions, he implores individuals to not communicate his presence to those who have not found him organically, and by their own first-person discovery, as this counteracts his accessibility and influence. Thus, if an individual is told of Deduceus, the potential for that individual's engagement is contaminated, and will not be possible, lasting for an unspecified but significant amount of time.
In anomalo-scientific terms, this anomaly is centered ontologically in a cognitive lock, or in an epistemologically self-destructing "safe", which will shatter the ontological contents upon any forced entry.
AOEL-392 presents unique challenges to containment. The entity must be discovered independently to be experienced, something that is antithetical to the purpose and function of containment documentation. Yes, to something such as this. The contradiction sits deeply with me, and in an uncomfortable equilibrium of my own psychological pathology. I, being the author of this, apologize to whomever is reading it, and who has not experienced this anomaly by first-hand account. I may have forever ruined this for you. Thus is the sacrifice of research and the pain of some knowledge. Bittersweet, isn't it?
It also poses the conundrum: to fully contain the anomaly, we would necessarily have to break our veil. We essentially self-destruct the anomaly as well, at least on a large probabilistic scale, which… we can't do.
My only recourse here is to trial-and-error a home-made formulary of antimemetic finishes, and hope that just the right amount comes through without ruining it. My test subjects will be denied a great joy; as many individuals as times I do not get the formula right. I hope access to and the forgiveness of the one true God is not as lost to me as Deduceus is to them.
